A comparison of existing transformation models to improve coordinate conversion between geodetic reference frames in Nigeria

Efficient transformation parameters are key to effective geodetic operations between any systems. With the advancement in technology, an improved interaction reference frames has been noticed irrespective of their inherent heterogeneous deformations and intermittently present oversight that exist as a result conversion methodology. The spatial data captured using Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) have datum based on World Geodetic 1984 (WGS84) ellipsoid. These usually require local projection with its ellipsoid vice versa. unavoidably vulnerable loss due distortion, especially if applied model is unsuitable for frames. Therefore, main aim this study authenticate existing set geocentric systems Nigeria by assessing efficacy Bursa Wolf (BW) Molodensky Badekas (MB) models. To end, both models (BW MB) compared used development Helmerts seven Minna (Clarke 1880) WGS84 ellipsoids large region Southern Nigeria.
